MEET THE ARTIST

Hi, I’m Janelle

"From my earliest memories, a passion for flowers and baking took root in my heart. Growing up alongside my grandmother, we spent countless hours on her 10-acre property, with two acres dedicated entirely to flower gardens. When we weren't tending to gardens, we were in the kitchen, where the crackling fireplace added a cosy touch to our culinary adventures. I can still taste the magic of her Louise Slice, a New Zealand favourite.

It wasn't until my adult years that I discovered the secret ingredient to her culinary prowess – she had once owned a little café where she crafted every cake and slice herself. Her culinary legacy lives on.

As an adult, I've carried forward her legacy, tending to my own gardens. New Zealand born and raised, I embarked on a new chapter in 2011, making the journey from New Zealand to Victoria, Australia. Today, Geelong is where I call home, along with my husband and our little boy.

Over the past 6-8 years, my grandmother's health has declined, and she now navigates the twilight stages of dementia. Every moment spent in my garden serves as a poignant reflection of our cherished moments together.

This is not only an ode to my grandmother but also a glimpse into my world. Thanks to her, I can name more plants and animals than celebrities and brand names. My life is a tapestry woven with the threads of flowers and flavours, and I invite you to join me on this journey of floral artistry and cake creation."
